고용석 작가는 제주출신 도예가로서 맑고 깨끗한 제주 바다 파도의 이미지를 도자 공예로 표현한다. 고용석 작가의 작업은 자연에서 얻은 영감을 한국의 전통기법과 작가적 미감으로 재해석하여 표현하며 이는 무의식 속에 내재되어져 온 감성과 숙련된 기능의 무념적 표현의 본질을 드러낸다. 

작가는 현재까지 18회 개인전 및 초대/단체전 110여회을 열었으며 중앙대학교 예술대학 공예학과 및 대학원 디자인학박사 졸업을 하였고 동경예술대학 대학원에서 연구과정 수료하였으며 대한민국산업 디자인전람회 연합회장상, 제주특별자치도 공예품공모전 대상, 한국공예가협회 젊은 작가상 외 다수 수상 경력을 갖고 있다. 특히 지난해 제46회 제주도미술대전에서 도예 작품 ‘너울’ 로 대상을 차지했으며, 대상 수상자에게 주어지는 개인전 개최 지원 사업을 통해 제주도문예회관에서 ‘고요한 도자기-motive’ 주제전을 열었다. 


Ko Yong-seok, a potter from Jeju, expresses the image of clear and clean Jeju sea waves with ceramic crafts. The work of the artist Ko Yong-seok expresses the inspiration from nature by reinterpreting it with traditional Korean techniques and artist's aesthetic, which reveals the essence of the thoughtless expression of sensibility and skills inherent in unconsciousness.

So far, the artist has held 18 individual exhibitions and 110 invitation/group exhibitions, graduated from Chung-Ang University College of Arts and Graduate Design, completed research courses at Tokyo University Graduate School of Arts and won the Korea Industrial Design Exhibition's Grand Prize.

In particular, they won the grand prize at the 46th Jeju Art Exhibition last year with their pottery work "Wave," and held a themed exhibition of "Silent Pottery-Motive" at the Jeju Literary Center through a project to support the hosting of an individual exhibition given to the grand prize winner.
